- Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself… And Your Kids
What we teach our children begins with what we show them. (Scroll naar beneden voor de Nederlandse versie) Have you ever heard the term “Young Ho”? Neither had I, until last week. Some young girls, as young as 14, proudly call themselves a “young ho.” Yes, you read that right: girls who describe themselves that way. What does it mean? Having sex with as many boys as possible and openly taking pride in it. Imagine that being your daughter. But imagine that being your son, eagerly taking advantage of it. Of course, we all hope that the generations after us will do better than we did. But how is it that labels like these can become a status symbol among young girls in the first place? Who is responsible? That’s right: we are! As adults it’s about time we started taking collective accountability. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to teach our sons to take responsibility for their behaviour and to contribute to the safety of girls and women. We need to teach them to cultivate softness and warmth within themselves, so they can also receive and share those qualities in their relationships. That won’t happen if we raise our sons with a heavy hand, project our own fears and shortcomings onto them, or constantly try to control them. Instead, we need to teach them what healthy masculine energy looks like and how to develop it. To do that, we first need to explore what it means to us. After all, many parents never had healthy role models themselves, or never experienced healthy examples in their own relationships. We often raise our children from a place of our own fears and unresolved patterns. Raising a generation of healthy boys means teaching them to set boundaries, recognize their own worth and explore the world through their own interests. It means helping them develop focus and perseverance, while showing them that strength also lies in caring for others, taking responsibility and creating a sense of safety. It means teaching them to stand up for themselves and others, and to call each other out on disrespectful or boundary crossing behaviour towards girls and women. As a parent, be mindful of what you project onto your child. Our children need engaged parents who are willing to look at themselves honestly and strive to be healthy role models. But as justified as the focus on boys and their behaviour may be, there are two sides to this coin. Are our daughters receiving enough guidance to develop their self-worth, learn to set boundaries and explore their sexuality? Discovering sexuality is a normal part of growing up. But do girls also understand that they don’t have to do anything sexual to gain attention, approval or status? That their bodies and sexuality belong to them, and that they get to decide what feels right for them, without pressure from their peers or social media? How do trends like “Young Ho” emerge in the first place, where a sexual label can apparently become something to take pride in? How is it that sexual acts are sometimes presented as casual and inconsequential, much like kissing, while their emotional significance and potential consequences receive hardly any attention? And why are statements like “boys are stupid” accepted in early childhood as though they were perfectly normal? These questions aren’t about judging girls or controlling their sexuality. They’re about the examples they see, the values they are taught and the guidance they need to treat themselves and others with respect. “Well, we live in a digital age,” I hear people say regularly. Another lovely little phrase that allows us to shift the responsibility elsewhere. Of course, we can’t keep the digital world out of our children’s lives entirely. But as parents, we can think carefully about what we allow them access to, the boundaries we set and the conversations we have with them. Who decides how much time children spend online? Which platforms do we allow them to use, and do we actually know what they’re being exposed to? Are we making these choices because we’re afraid our little prince or princess might miss out, or because a screen can simply be a convenient way to keep them occupied after a busy day? And what about us? Are we constantly glued to our own phones while expecting our children to behave differently? We can’t control everything, but we absolutely do have an influence on the values, boundaries and habits we establish at home. Being “busy” has become a way of life. Of course, we all have responsibilities, but it’s worth taking an honest look at the choices we make and the priorities we set. Because engaged parenting takes time, attention and sometimes a willingness to sit with discomfort. This era and hopefully the beginning of a healthier generation, calls for active involvement. And that starts with you. Are you actively contributing to a healthier, more resilient generation? A generation that learns to love, to support one another instead of humiliating one another, and to take responsibility for its own behaviour? What are your priorities as a parent, and what are you contributing? Our children need guidance as they discover their sexuality as part of their personal development. They need to learn how to relate to one another, respect their own boundaries and those of others and explore themselves and each other within a framework of healthy values and mutual respect. They need parents who are involved and willing to take a critical look in the mirror. This is about what we teach our daughters about being women, relationships and self-worth, as well as what we teach our sons about women, love, boundaries and masculinity. Because children don’t just learn from what we tell them. They learn, above all, from what we show them. A son who sees his mother constantly putting herself last may unconsciously learn that this is what love looks like. That a woman’s needs can come second, or that she will always pick up the pieces while he goes about his own life. But a son who sees his mother protect her self-worth, assert her boundaries and refuse to lose herself just to keep a relationship alive is given a very different example. The same applies to daughters. They learn not only from their mothers how to treat themselves, but also from the way their fathers treat their mothers. And sons don’t learn only from their fathers how to treat women; they also learn from the way their mothers treat themselves and others. We want our children to build healthy relationships. But to make that possible, we also need the courage to examine the relationship patterns we model for them ourselves. We can tell them to respect themselves, protect their boundaries and know their own worth. But if we demonstrate the opposite, a gap emerges between our words and our actions. Ultimately, our actions speak louder than our words. So, fellow parents, let’s take collective action for what we pass on. Break the patterns you continue to perpetuate, because you cannot change what you are unwilling to confront. Let’s be the generation with the courage not only to point out the mistakes of others, but also to look at ourselves. Because our children deserve better than patterns passed down from one generation to the next. Check yourself before you wreck yourself… and your kids. Can you relate to what I’ve shared? Wie is hiervoor verantwoordelijk? Check yourself before you wreck yourself… and your kids. Herken je je in mijn verhaal? - Soul Portraits – Art with Soul and Connection.
Size: 100 x 120 cm (NL tekst, scroll naar beneden) My work goes beyond appearances: I don’t just paint clothing or surface details. I capture the essence of who you are and the deep connections within your family. The invisible becomes visible, the layers behind the face, the energy, the memories, and the stories that bind you together. What Makes a Soul Portrait Special? Every portrait tells a story. I bring not only physical likeness to life but also the connections between family members, across generations, and the unique bond you share. At the heart of each portrait is a personal symbol a visual mantra that reflects your family’s energy, history, or shared memories. These symbols can draw from nature, animals, cultural elements, or even birth data. The result is a portrait that is both seen and felt, an artwork full of soul and energy. The Process 1. Getting to Know You: We start with a personal conversation, live or online, so I can understand your family as a whole and as individuals. 2. Creating the Symbol: From this conversation, symbolism emerges that connects and represents your family. 3. Painting the Portrait: Using the symbol as a guide and a carefully chosen family photo, I bring the portrait to life. Every detail, from facial expressions to patterns, is crafted with care and intention. 4. Delivery: The finished portrait comes with a description of the symbolism and its meaning, so the painting remains not only visible but also emotionally and energetically resonant. Who Are Soul Portraits For? Soul Portraits are for those seeking more than just a pretty picture. They’re for families celebrating their bond, parents wanting to leave something lasting for their children, and anyone who believes that art can carry memories, energy, and love. About Me For me, painting is a form of connection, with people, their stories, and the deep essence of who they are. I work intuitively, with attention and symbolism, bringing the unseen energy of your family to life on the canvas. Interested? - No Man's Land And I'm The Wanderer
An In-between Space With Direction. The Black Swan, 1 /12 Collage paintings from the project: What Lives On, Written By Those Who Love You. For the past two weeks, I’ve been trying to write something, but every time I stop halfway and think: no, this isn’t it. It’s not that there’s nothing to tell, because there is plenty happening to write about. I thought: with the end of the Year of the Snake, I close a big chapter. There’s nothing left to peel away; there are simply no more layers. The need to speak about my trauma has also disappeared. I protect myself from digging into old wounds, from stirring up past pain, because I no longer want to identify with it. And no, I don’t push it away, I didn't suppress it, I have gone straight through it. And now I stand on the other side. It is a strange in-between space. It feels like no-man’s-land, and I am the wanderer. It almost feels as if you move invisibly through the outside world, where everyone dutifully follows their script, and I watch it all from a distance. I also dream of gas stations, hotels, buses, and boats, true symbols of a transitional phase: refueling, choosing direction, and being on the way. This in-between space is a place where deep shadow work has taken place. Where intense grief has softened because it has been fully experienced. Where there was once mist, there is now clarity and insight. The darkness has danced with me. It is not gone, but fully accepted and integrated. The renewed woman is already present; only the world has not yet caught up with her. No-man’s-land, and I am the wanderer, yet I am not lost. I know exactly where I am and where I am heading. I use my past as inspiration, transforming something painful into something beautiful, loving, and connective. I use my pain as a bridge for transformation. Not to name it constantly, but because I have learned to carry it. The darkness has taught me that I am capable of this. No victimhood, only ownership. In mid-December, I made a decision: I chose myself. I had an enormous need for rest. The final part of closing this period is intense because it has to do with my sleep. Or rather: the lack of it. For the past 40 years, a deep elephant path has been carved into my nervous system. My body has tried to keep me awake for 40 years by producing enormous bursts of noradrenaline, making it impossible to sink into sleep. This has taught me patience. To hold hope in situations that sometimes feel hopeless. It is the last thing that still reminds me of the past. I will spare you the details of what this does to my body, or how my evening routine looks, or the many steps I have taken with and without professional help, or the countless supplements I have used, including alcohol and cannabis. Or the dozens of books I have read. This is trauma at a deeply ingrained level and can only be transformed with immense patience. Neurobiology, in which my sympathetic nervous system is too dominant in the evening. It is sometimes incredibly heavy, especially because my work is physically demanding, often resulting in exhaustion and migraines. I am not a quitter, and I know that I will ultimately succeed. And if not, I have accepted it and perhaps that has been the greatest challenge: acceptance. Acceptance in nights of wakefulness. Acceptance that I must slow down. Acceptance that I need to reprogram my body, with patience, without frustration. Acceptance that I must do this entirely alone. Plus acceptance that I can no longer do or want to do my old decorative painting work. And thus, acceptance that I do not generate income. As daunting as this is, with no backup system, I feel a deep sense of peace and trust. As if I have given myself a gift, a necessary gift. Because in the rest, in the time I allow myself to calm my nervous system, a beautiful new idea was born. Exactle what I want to share, in the way I do it best. I am going to tell you a story through the slowest medium that exists: painting. Inspired by my childhood: the old-fashioned poetry album, but renewed, wiser, stronger. It will carry my lessons, my breakthroughs, and my insights. With the aim to inspire, to teach, and to share. It will be a renewed poetry album, a treasure chest where we once again preserve words for each other. Like in the past, but now wiser. An album that you can fill and give to someone you hold dearly, so your words and wishes can travel further and connect. Soon I will start my grant applications and launch a crowdfunding campaign to make this project visible. If you feel this resonates with you, I will take you along every step of the way. For now, I am working on the second painting for this album. It is a combination of poems: words that carry an image, and the image gives the words power. Everything is symbolic and represents different themes, all related to self-development. Currently, I am painting the black swan. The black swan represents the primordial mother, transformation after crisis, beauty born from darkness, and female strength that no longer has to be white and obedient. The flowers around her signify: blooming in the dark, vulnerability no longer hidden, life that grows through pain. The in-between space I occupy is the domain of the black swan. She does not belong to the flock of white swans, but she has not yet been fully recognized in her new realm. No-man’s-land is not emptiness; it is the womb of my next form. My shadow is integrated, my intensity transformed into direction. I am no longer “too intense.” I AM intense and that is now my strength. This is how art heals me. Soon I will share more about how this project is taking shape. If you feel that this touches something within you, stay close. This story has only just begun and is not only mine, it is also yours. Work in progress. Niemandsland En Ik Ben De Doler Een Tussenfase Met Richting De zwarte zwaan, 1/12 collage schilderwerken van het project: What Lives On, Written By Those Who Love You. Mijn schaduw is geïntegreerd, mijn intensiteit is getransformeerd in richting. Work in progress.
- Don't Dim Me
A manifesto for the unapologetic self Work in progress and so am I. (Nederlands scroll naar beneden) I have now reached my 10th painting and what a journey it has been so far. Through creating this project, I have come to realize that it is deeply rooted within me as well. Each painting, together with its accompanying poem, reveals something to me. I noticed this already while creating the very first piece and even dedicated several blog posts to some of the painted collages because of it. As I stood before the creation of the 10th painting, I found myself thinking, "Well, I wonder what this one is going to bring me." This painting, featuring the panther, iris, gladiolus, and papaya, represents something incredibly powerful. It amplifies a short yet potent poem a poem about my authentic voice and how it is not always welcomed. This work has teeth, and it stares back. Let me explain the symbolism and, for the first time, I'll share the poem that will be included in my poetry book, "What Lives On, Written by Those Who Love You". - The panther symbolizes strength, intuition, mystery, protection, and feminine primal power. It speaks of inner trust and the courage to walk your own path without external validation. It is instinctive intelligence that does not doubt what it perceives. Quiet, present, untamed in its gaze. - The iris represents intuition, beauty, emotional depth, and spiritual connection. - The gladiolus symbolizes integrity, perseverance, and loyalty to the heart. - The papaya represents life force, sensuality, nourishment, softness, and fertility. Its many seeds also symbolize abundance and creative power. Together, they do not illustrate the poem, they amplify it. And the poem itself says enough: DON’T DIM ME Can you please make yourself smaller? I like my comfort more than I like your truth. Not so loud, please Your voice shakes the walls I built to keep myself asleep. Don’t talk about your feelings I’m not ready to feel mine. You’re perfect just the way you are but don’t be like that. If you think I'm harmless, you're going to burn yourself. This is about being a woman. About power and bout taking up space in a world that is still accustomed to reducing women to form rather than substance. There remains a persistent image of women as nurturing, softening, aesthetic beings, something that should be beautiful, useful, and comfortable for others. Eye candy in a system that would rather not examine itself. But that image does not match reality. We are not here only to nurture or soften. We are also here to disrupt what has become stagnant and to crack open systems that have considered themselves unquestionable for far too long. We are here to shine light on what would rather remain hidden. I have known for a very long time that I am that kind of woman. Deeply intuitive. Sharply observant. Unimpressed by appearances when they do not match what lies beneath. I see what is happening, even when the story being told says otherwise. For a long time, that placed me in isolation. Because nowhere did I learn how to live with perceptions that are not always welcome. Part of me was accepted: the creator, the aesthetic, the positive energy. But the other part, the one that sees through illusions, that confronts, that carries intensity, was often rejected. A familiar pattern emerged: take the form, but not the substance. Take the work, but not the mirror. Appreciate me, but please don't shine a light on my shadow. Appreciated, yet confined. Framed and limited. I have now learned that I am not responsible for people's reactions to what I see. Multiple layers of consciousness exist side by side, and not everyone lives on the same layer. Not everyone wants to see the same layer. So I choose my moments. I speak when it feels right. I shine light where it is needed, where it is requested, or where my integrity allows no alternative. And I step away when something turns into projection, distortion, or ego defense. People often prefer to remain small or attached to victimhood. They would rather seek validation or attention from someone than face someone who is authentic, even though everyone claims to want authentic friendships. Most people cannot actually handle them. What happens is this: I name something that is already present, and it is reflected back as an attack. As if clarity were aggression. As if mirrors were dangerous. Then come the projections, the assumptions, the noise, and finally the silence. Sometimes I do not even have to say anything. My presence alone is enough to trigger someone. And once again it becomes clear: it is not the truth itself that is being rejected, but the resistance to it. At that point, it is no longer my field, and I do not remain there. A beautiful woman with a deep intellect. Life would have been easier had I remained superficial. Had I not seen through what lies beneath words. Had I not immediately sensed where something is off before it is ever spoken. But that is not how I am built and that does not make me smaller. It makes me difficult to categorize. There was another layer added to this journey: the choice to face my own demons. To take responsibility for my life instead of handing my power over to circumstances or other people. To confront my traumas, release limiting beliefs, and not merely talk about consciousness, but live it. A perspective in which victimhood no longer has a home and honesty becomes more important than comfort is confronting, especially for people who continue to keep themselves small while, deep down, sensing that more is possible. Beauty is welcomed as long as it remains silent. Intelligence is appreciated as long as it remains manageable. But a woman who carries both and who also sees what others would rather avoid suddenly becomes something that no longer fits into a box. Too beautiful to ignore. Too sharp to remain comfortable. I do not need to make my presence louder. It is already loud enough for those who are truly looking. And for those who refuse to look... it is already too late. And then came my great test this past week. My project, What Lives On, Written by Those Who Love You, inspired me to apply for several grants. Past experience has shown me that cultural institutions and arts organizations often operate from outdated systems. Fourteen years ago, I successfully secured a grant. It remains one positive experience among many negative ones, where rejection became almost a comfort zone. It showed me that institutions often participate in certain agendas, maintaining a façade for the outside world. Without academic qualifications, I already start one step behind, regardless of my background or achievements. They evaluate what is written in black and white, while every shade in between is dismissed with the click of a button. My preliminary application to the Cultural Fund was rejected without explanation. Then I received a rejection from the Mondriaan Fund as well. The decision was based on my CV. Every hour I spent on my project proposal and budget was rendered irrelevant before the content was even considered. The rejection stated: "Grants may be applied for by visual artists working within the fields of visual arts and/or cultural heritage. A visual artist must be artistically active within visual arts and/or cultural heritage and integrated into the professional visual arts and/or cultural heritage practice in the Netherlands. Based on the information provided, including your CV, this is deemed insufficient." Let's put that into perspective. Cultural heritage is generally defined as everything a society considers meaningful enough to preserve, protect, and pass on to future generations. This includes both tangible and intangible heritage. And it is intangible heritage that concerns me here. This includes: Traditions and rituals Stories and oral history Crafts and craftsmanship Music, dance, and performing arts Knowledge and practices passed down through generations So according to this rejection, my 24 years of experience with the Dutch Opera & Ballet, performing arts and craftsmanship, do not qualify? My project, inspired by the traditional friendship and poetry albums of the past, rooted in traditions and rituals, apparently does not deserve recognition? Of course, I emailed them back asking how these decades of experience are not considered active participation within cultural heritage. So far, I have received no response. Naturally, I felt disappointed. But this project stopped being about me a long time ago. It is much bigger than that. This is a project for the collective, and I can see very clearly what it is meant to become. At the same time, I state firmly that my work, my project, and my identity as an artist are not defined by external systems. No fund, no institution, no gatekeeper determines whether this work deserves to exist or who I am as an artist. I do not belong within a system that only understands itself through existing frameworks. I do not fit into structures that respond only when something has already been made safe, categorized, and explained. I see more clearly than ever that my work is not meant to be filtered through those old structures. I will not make myself fit, and I do not create work that asks for permission. I trust that another path will reveal itself. And it will, because I am no longer trying to fit where I do not belong. This project will come into existence, one way or another, with or without external approval. So I do not see my disappointment as an endpoint. I see it as a starting point, one that comes with greater clarity. Don’t Dim Me! (There’s still time to support the project. Donations remain open until I complete the twelfth and final painting of the series. Thank you for being part of this journey). Can you please make yourself smaller? I like my comfort more than I like your truth. Not so loud please Your voice shakes the walls I built to keep myself asleep Don’t talk about your feelings I’m not ready to feel mine. You’re perfect just the way you are But don’t be like that. Mijn project “What lives on, written by those who love you” heeft mij ertoe bewogen om een aantal subsidie aanvragen te doen. Laten we dit even verduidelijken. Don’t Dim Me! - Written to Remain
What Lives On, Written By Those Who Love You. The Peacock, 1/12 collage paintings (Dutch language, scroll down) I am currently in the middle of my crowdfunding and I notice how this project is slowly unfolding through the responses I receive. What began as an idea is increasingly becoming something carried by the stories of others. Especially after personal conversations, I receive a lot of enthusiasm, because most people are open to the conscious connection that is being created. Not only for themselves, but also with the intention of creating a book that can later be passed on to their children. Because how powerful is it, for example, that I can tell my son that he should always follow his heart and see his intuition as his closest companion. Even when I am no longer here, my guidance remains, and he can always be reminded of it when he opens the book. In recent times, I spoke with several women who have kept their poetry albums to this day. I asked them to answer ten questions about them. What came back went far beyond simple answers. I received incredibly beautiful anecdotes as well as deeply emotional messages. A lot of emotion was released. Some shared fragments of their albums with me, others spoke about the words that were once written for them. Small sentences, simple rhymes, names of people who once were close. What is so beautiful about this is that they still carry these books with them. They belong to them. They hold memories that have not been lost. There were also women who no longer had their album, and who had to say goodbye far too early to their mother or another loved one. They all expressed how deeply they would love to read their handwriting and the written words again. And this is where the emotional weight of these albums lies, because many of the people who wrote in them are no longer here. What remains are their words. Handwritten, personal, tangible. They are traces of connection, of attention, of a moment when someone took the time to leave something behind. This is what makes such an album more than paper. It becomes something that remains. For this modern poetry album, which I have titled “What lives on, written by those who love you,” I assembled a panel of fourteen people who read twenty-eight poems of mine. Their task was to select twelve favourites from this collection. These twelve poems carry five themes: grief, transformation, sovereignty, wildness (feminine energy), and love. Themes that touch what it means to be human, as it is often within our most intense experiences that the deepest wisdom is found. Between these poems are blank pages, intended to be filled in by loved ones. Initially, I invited only women, as the work is written from a female perspective. However, I became curious about how it would be received by men, and decided to include that perspective as well. The first feedback I received from a man moved me. He quoted a line from a poem that had touched him. At that moment, I realised that this project does not only speak from one side, but also creates space for connection between the masculine and the feminine. That it is being read and truly received. And of course, men also deserve beautiful words, and their wisdom deserves to be passed on. Writing and creation live within men just as much as within women. What I also notice is that, at this moment, more men than women have donated to this crowdfunding campaign. Without intentionally directing this, it simply happens. For me, this confirms that the project resonates more broadly than I initially expected. The essence of this book lies in what we leave behind for the people we love. In words that we consciously record. Not only for later, but especially for now. To put into words what we feel, regardless of age or moment, and regardless of who we address them to. Within family lines, but also within friendships. It is about connection and responsibility. About choosing to express and record something so that it becomes real and can be shared. Something tangible that continues to exist as part of how we connect with one another. This book is also a movement. A choice to slow down, to give attention, and to allow words to land. In a time where so much is fleeting and disappears quickly. Because what truly remains of a moment online and what remains when someone takes the time to write something for you by hand? First sketch of the design, not the final version This book is for people who want to pass on what they feel, what they see in another, what they may not always express. And also for those who will one day hold it in their hands. Who will turn the pages of words written especially for them or their loved ones. This is the moment where this project can become reality. Not later, but now. By donating, you are not only helping to create this book, you are also helping to ensure that this way of recording and preserving continues to exist and is passed on again. An analogue gift in a digital age. Every contribution makes it possible to actually hold this book in your hands. To create something that can be passed on, preserved, and carry meaning for the people who receive it. If you feel this matters, then this is the moment to become part of what is unfolding here. I am not simply asking for a contribution. I am offering the book in return. Choose your reward and support something that creates space again for slowing down, feeling, and real connection. https://gofund.me/30ba259dd If you'd like to support the project, you can make a donation through the link and email me at esther@womanwiththekite.com and let me know which reward you've chosen. I'll make sure to register your details. I would also like to ask everyone to share my project. Spread the word! With deep gratitude. Esther Geschreven Om Te Blijven Voortbestaan What lives on, written by those who love you. - My House Has Opinions
Raising a sensitive kid, translating feline sass, and living the magic. My home is alive. Thanks to my son, our two cats have a voice. My son was born with a channel that is wide open. I sensed this early on. Around the age of two, I started noticing things. I still remember the first moment clearly. We had just stepped out of the car in front of our house when he saw a neighbor walking his dog. “Mama, pet the dog,” he said. I explained that we always need to ask the owner first. The man said it was okay, and Shaheem started petting the dog. Then he said: “Doggy sleeping.” I replied, “No, he’s just out for a walk.” But the owner said, “Your son is right. Other than these short walks, he mostly just sleeps.” That moment stayed with me. Interesting, I thought. But it was only the beginning. A few weeks later, he was staying with my parents. My brother was there too, and later on he told me what had happened. The neighbor had a large white cat named Oscar, who sat in her garden on a leash. Oscar would always climb over the fence, leash and all, to sit in my parents’ yard. Shaheem called him Ocsar and loved to pet him. At one point, he climbed onto my brother’s lap, upset, and said: “Ocsar says I pooped my pants, but that’s not true.” Three hours later, he did. I joked that I didn’t know cats could predict the future. But somewhere, I already felt it, he was tuning into a different level of awareness. He could also hear my thoughts. One time I was sitting on the toilet thinking, I need to grab his little suitcase in a minute. Within two seconds, Shaheem stood at the door with the suitcase. “That’s what you asked for, right mama?” he said. Or that morning in bed, somewhere between sleep and waking. His head resting against mine. Suddenly I realized I was communicating with him through my thoughts. I asked if he was excited about our upcoming trip to Mexico. He nodded yes. Then I asked if he was looking forward to playing in the sand at the beach. He shook his head no. The moment I became fully awake, the connection disappeared. From that point on, I decided to keep this channel open for him in a natural way. Whenever he shared something, I responded with genuine interest. Like the time we were at the zoo, standing by the zebras. Among them were also some greyish horses. He said: “That horse says he wants black and white stripes too.” I had to hold back my laughter, but he was completely serious. By letting him feel that I believed him, that it was safe to share, I gave him the space to remain himself. Later, I noticed he could do this not only with animals, but also with plants. In fact, with anything that carries consciousness. In a playful way, I started explaining to him who he is in essence: consciousness energy in a body. I also made it clear that what he experiences is special, and not something everyone naturally understands. I taught him how to ground himself, and how to protect his energy when a space feels overwhelming. I started doing this when he began to go to school. As he learned to express himself more clearly, I noticed he was also sensitive to other, non-physical energies. Energetically cleansing our home became just as normal as cleaning with soap and water. There’s always a bottle of apple cider vinegar ready in the shower. He also senses very clearly what is going on with others, classmates, teachers. I’ve taught him that it’s not his responsibility to carry or fix that. His sensitivity has been a powerful mirror for me. Through him, I’ve been able to see parts of myself I might not have faced otherwise. What I often notice is that certain behaviors or conditions in children are seen as something that belongs solely to the child. But children are pure. They show us what’s there. Through my son, I’ve come to see things in myself I might not have looked at otherwise. Our lives became even richer when we brought home our Persian cat, Mimi, three years ago. What a personality. Strong-willed, brutally honest, and incredibly loving. Shaheem translates her for me, and sometimes it truly feels like she’s speaking. There was a time I wasn’t allowed to pet her. She would move away from me. Through Shaheem came the message: “She doesn’t want to be touched by stress.” OOOHHHWWKKKEEEE Mimi… confronting as always. And yes… she was right. Or during our move, when she wondered why she had to live in such a mess. And once, walking past the mirror, she said: “I’m so beautiful.” When she wants to play with me, she wants it to be just me. “He has to go,” she says about Shaheem. Only when he walks away, slightly offended, does she want to play. She truly has a strong personality. I also feel animals, but in a different way. Sometimes I pick up on something. Recently, I arranged a few flowers in small vases. I looked at them, satisfied, when suddenly I heard the word: “Tacky”. I looked beside me. Mimi was staring at the vases with flattened ears. “I think it’s lovely,” I said. “Tacky,” came the reply again. Apparently, we have different tastes. Nine months ago, we brought a second cat into our home, Lila. For three weeks, I felt Mimi’s sadness intensely. She felt betrayed. I had to shield myself from it, because I started to feel deeply guilty. Now there is peace. They’ve accepted each other. They sleep together, play together. Mimi is present in her own way. Lila is a true cuddle cat, always close. When I have a migraine, Mimi is always there. Lila follows me everywhere, brings back little balls like a dog, and earned the nickname “Miss FOMO.” And recently: “Little Miss Stinkface,” because she can curl up one side of her upper lip when she doesn’t like something, or someone. Little Miss Stinkface in full effect! Over time, my son has developed even more unique abilities. This happened alongside an intense process within myself. The more I let go, the faster his development seemed to unfold. Those are stories for another time. I’ve noticed that my way of parenting can trigger something in other parents. For me, it feels natural to guide my son within the world of energy. I trust my intuition in this. I believe that understanding who you are in essence helps you understand emotions and how to move through them. What matters most to me is that a child feels seen and heard in their inner world. That creates confidence. Space. Safety. If I had my son tested, there might have been a label. But what I see is not a problem to be solved. I see a sensitivity that reveals something. Not something that needs to be pushed into a system, a system that, to me, feels outdated. These children are asking for a different way of seeing. And as parents, that begins with us. With expanding our own awareness. With recognizing that there is more than what we can see with the naked eye. Do you have a child who is sensitive to energy, to the unseen? Start with something simple: grounding. Do it together, in the morning and in the evening. Make it a ritual. It’s a foundation they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Below are some tips: If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. If you found this helpful, please consider sharing it with someone who might benefit, or supporting me with a small donation. Every bit helps me continue to share tips and experiences for sensitive children. Tips for sensitive children 1. Grounding (morning & evening) Let your child sit or stand still for a moment. Ask them to close their eyes and imagine roots growing from their feet, deep into the earth. You can say: “Feel how the earth is holding you.” Keep it playful and short (1–2 minutes is enough). 2. Protective field (energy bubble) Ask your child to imagine a soft, transparent bubble around them. Everything that feels good can come in. Everything that isn’t theirs stays out. For extra fun, they can imagine putting on a superhero suit inside their bubble, this helps them feel strong, safe, and in control. You can say: “This is your space. You decide what comes in.” 3. Returning emotions If your child feels something that doesn’t seem to belong to them: Ask: “Is this yours, or someone else’s?” If it’s not theirs: Let them return it in their mind. For example: “This is not mine, I give it back.” 4. Releasing through the body Children store a lot in their bodies. Help them release it by: • jumping • shaking their arms and legs • running or dancing Keep it light: “Shake it all off!” 5. Creating a safe space to share Let your child know they can share anything without judgment. You don’t always have to understand it, your presence and listening are enough. Ik keek naast me. Onze smaken verschillen blijkbaar. Toen we negen maanden geleden een tweede poes genaamd Lila in huis haalden, voelde ik drie weken lang Mimi’s verdriet. Ze voelde zich verraden. Ik moest me daar echt even voor afsluiten, want ik begon me vreselijk schuldig te voelen. Nu is er rust. Ze hebben elkaar geaccepteerd. Ze slapen samen, spelen samen. Mimi is op haar manier aanwezig. Lila is een echte knuffelpoes. Altijd dichtbij. Miss Stinkface in full effect! 1. Aarden (ochtend & avond) Laat je kind even stil staan of zitten.
- The Wild Rose Doesn’t Chase the Bee
On being seen without forcing visibility The Bee, 1/12 collage paintings from the project: What Lives On, Written By Those Who Lovde You. There’s a lot of talk about being visible, as if visibility is some kind of end point, proof that you matter. But being visible is not the same as being seen. Visibility is an action. You put something out there, you take up space, you show yourself. But being seen happens on the other side. It doesn’t just require my presence, but the willingness of someone else to truly receive. And that’s where the tension lies. Because you can do everything “right”, show up, share, be consistent and still not feel seen. True perception isn’t something you can manufacture. Being seen requires alignment. It asks for someone who, at the same moment and with the same openness, can meet what you offer. And that’s the shift: not trying harder to be visible, but staying true to what wants to be seen. Last Monday I was supposed to teach at my son’s school. I planned to build a new collage painting from scratch in the studio, so students could witness the process up close. I brought everything with me a finished piece, paint, palette, brushes, my entire project mapped out on paper. The whole shebang. When I got there, it stayed empty. Every now and then a student wandered in, but no one came for my story. After messaging my contact, I just started painting. Otherwise it felt like wasted time. Around noon, a teacher finally came in. She seemed somewhat distant. I introduced myself and asked if she knew I was coming. There was a flicker of light in her eyes, but she wasn’t really present. According to her, I had “approached it the wrong way” and should have signed up through the school website. She sat down, started her lunch, and that was it. I finished my first layer of paint and realized: this is exactly how I would never treat someone else. If I were a teacher, I would know which students had an affinity for painting and I would have gathered them, so that someone who made the effort to give a workshop wouldn’t be left standing there like that. But that’s me. I packed my things and left. I didn’t feel welcome. At home, it lingered. I felt invisible. Not seen. I noticed this has been a theme for weeks. Does my environment really understand what I do? With whom do I have real interaction, and with whom I don’t ? While reflecting on that, I looked at my painting: the wild roses and the bee. And then it clicked. The bee that finds the flower. Drawn to nectar. The flower that doesn’t have to try. It’s about exchange. About giving and receiving in balance. The wild rose, unpolished, not perfect, but real. With thorns. With boundaries. A heart that doesn’t open to everyone. Strong women (the painting’s theme is collective feminine energy, among other things) don’t control people. They determine the level of access. I no longer argue, defend, or explain. Those are energy leaks. Chasing, pulling, adjusting, I’ve stopped doing that. I choose the path of least resistance. By doing so, I see more quickly where I still give too much. Where I still adapt. Friendships that continue because the other person decides when there is space, but never moves toward you. People who come to take, to unload, but have no space for you. Who don’t want to meet you in your entirety, but only in fragments. Then it’s simple: that’s where the door is. I realized again: I don’t have to adapt to be received. The right energy finds me naturally, even with thorns. This is not about chasing. This is about allowing what resonates to arrive. I bloom in my own way and what is meant for me finds me. My work doesn’t have to be for the masses. It can be selective. The right people connect without me having to convince them. And maybe this is the hardest part: trusting without visible results. Standing firm while something is still building. Making no more concessions, even when it feels tense. This is where most people drop off. For me, this feels like the moment to go all in. To trust what I see, even before it becomes visible to others. How strong is my ability to manifest, really? I can see it, I believe in it, and I’m moving in the right direction. What caused me stress, I’ve let go of. Space has opened up. Instead of building visibility, I’m now aligned with what flows toward me effortlessly. I’ve stopped forcing what isn’t alive. What I’m truly allergic to are the voices that tell you how it should be done. When you should be visible. What you should share. How often. In what way. As if there’s one route to being seen. But being seen cannot be captured in step-by-step plans. So I’m not going to tell you how you should do it. I can only show you how I do it. How I hit. How I miss and still continue. By creating while I feel it and sharing while it’s still alive. This is not a strategy, it's momentum, it's experience. I am not visible to be seen. I am seen because I create. If this resonates with you and you’d like to support my work, a donation is warmly welcome. What Lives On, Written By Those Who Love You. The whole shebang. Ik voelde me onzichtbaar. Mijn dank is groot. Liefs, Esther. From Dusty Attics to New Stories Memories, poems, and words that connect generations. As promised, I’m taking you along in the creation process of the poetry album project. Last week I shared the history of the poetry album and how I envision this new album. What I didn’t mention yet is that we used to call it a Poesie album . That word was often printed on the cover, and as children we simply adopted it. Poesie is the German word for poetry, and these albums were originally printed in Germany. That’s where the name comes from. Last week I also received the first photos of women with their albums, along with their answers to my questions. And yes… I did ask quite a lot. I asked these women to search through dark basements and dusty attics to find their album, you know, somewhere between the boxes we so easily ignore. One friend called me and began with: “Es… I must really, really love you… but… I found it!” Another friend sent a voice note saying she had bumped her head three times and had a sneezing fit from all the dust, but she too had found her album. When she read a poem written by her beloved grandmother, she couldn’t hold back her tears. The messages from women who started flipping through their albums again have been wonderful, heartwarming, and full of enthusiasm. These old albums truly stirred something. For some it brings emotions and memories, for others funny anecdotes. Receiving all these beautiful responses only makes my inner engine run faster. Many women feel exactly the intention behind what I want to create with this new album. What also struck me while reading these stories is how powerful words really are. A few lines, once written by a grandmother, mother, or teacher, can still touch something decades later. Perhaps that is exactly why I want to weave my own poems into this album as well. This time, the poetry album is not just for women. When we look at history, the origin was actually a kind of friendship book used by male students (women were not allowed to study yet around 1500–1600). Today there are also many men who write, journal, or exchange blackbooks within graffiti culture. The desire to share words and images lives just as strongly among men. Women have blackbooks too, this one is mine! (Pic. Oase) From my perspective, everyone deserves beautiful words. That is why this album is for everyone. Last week I also mentioned that this new album will have its own visual language, connected to 13 poems written by me. I’d like to go a little deeper into that. In mid-December 2025 I compiled a poetry collection called Soul Bravery : 28 poems I wrote during an intense period in which I had to face my own shadow. A time of transformation. I sent that collection to several publishers. While waiting for their feedback, the idea for the poetry album was born. Because I only want to include 12 or 13 poems in the album, I asked several women to read the collection and send me their intuitive top 12. For me, that was quite a vulnerable and exciting moment. The feedback was incredibly heartwarming. Interestingly, many of the same favorites kept appearing. The women who helped had different backgrounds and ages, and it was beautiful to see how different phases of life resonate with different poems. At the same time, I became curious about the male perspective. The collection is written from a feminine point of view. What does that do for men? Which poems touch them? So I started searching again, this time for men of different ages and backgrounds. A friend who is an artist was the first to give feedback. His response gave me a completely new perspective. He told me that a few of the poems truly touched him. Then he quoted a line and said: “This is what a man wants to hear. Many men with a mother wound cannot give themselves the softness that is expressed here.” His words made me realize that this particular poem might form a bridge between the masculine and the feminine and perhaps even carry something healing. Another beautiful example came from a good friend in Chicago. He had printed the collection, filled a bath, lit candles, poured himself a drink, and gave himself a moment of complete me-time. When I received those photos, I smiled from ear to ear. How special that someone would engage with my words in that way. The final poems I selected for the album revolve around five themes: grief, transformation, sovereignty, wildness, and love. These themes reflect the changes we go through as human beings and often it is within those changes that our deepest wisdom lies. I realize that this album will touch people. That it can create real connection again. Spreading love, sharing knowledge, writing stories and poems. Giving and receiving in balance. A written memory on paper that can stand the test of time. Handwriting and words that may one day live on in the album of your children or loved ones. This album is meant for everyone. You can give it to yourself or to someone else. Perhaps you’ll even have parts of it filled in for your daughter or son, so that one day, when they are old enough, they can receive it and continue the tradition. A small gesture with a lasting impact. To make this project possible, the grant applications will be sent out next week and I will start the crowdfunding campaign. At the same time, I’ll begin working on the third painting for the album. Perhaps that is the true power of a poetry album: words that were once written with attention and love somehow continue to touch lives, connect people, and sometimes even heal many years later. That is why I want to make another call to all the women reading this. Do you still have your old poetry album? If so, I would love to receive a selfie of you with your album, along with the answers to the ten questions below. With your permission, I will use your photo to show how many stories these small books contain and to help make the crowdfunding visible. For all women and men who join the photo challenge: during the crowd-funding, you'll receive a special discount on the new poetry album! For women who no longer have their album, I’ve added six other questions (scroll down). Send me a nice photo and your answers. My gratitude is great.
The Poetry Album Is Back.... But This Time Wiser. Familiar and cherished, yet filled with new wisdom. A glimpse into a Dutch tradition. Dear friends, Many of you already know this, but I am currently creating a renewed, grown-up poetry album. Something we know as a nostalgic tradition, brought back in a wiser and stronger form. But let me start at the beginning, because while researching this idea I wanted to know exactly where the roots of the poetry album lie. At first I thought it started in the early 1900s, but I was quite wrong. The poetry album already existed between the 1500s and 1600s under the original name Album Amicorum, Latin for “book of friends,” particularly in the Netherlands and Germany. Students would take such a little book with them when they traveled and ask professors, fellow students, and friends to write a text, proverb, poem, or drawing in it. A social network on paper. In the 18th and 19th centuries the book became popular outside universities and was mainly used by noble and bourgeois women. They began writing more philosophical quotes, friendship verses, and well wishes. Around 1870 the recognizable little book we know today appeared: a small bound album with a hard cover in which people would write verses. Around 1900, when education became accessible to everyone, the use shifted. First it belonged to the elite and students, then to young women, and eventually to schoolgirls. Around that time it became a typical children’s tradition in which family members, friends, and teachers would write little poems. In the Amsterdam City Archives a remarkable poetry album is preserved that was filled between 1792 and 1797. The album belonged to a woman from an Amsterdam family circle (something I would of course love to see with my own eyes someday). In 1793 a friend, Marie de Vries, wrote a French verse that ended with: Pensez à moi, pensez à moi. (Think of me, think of me.) That little sentence says everything about the intention of such an album: let me keep a place in your life and in your memories. More than 200 years ago women were already collecting texts from friends in their poetry albums. So originally it wasn’t a children’s book at all, but rather a life book in which the people around you left something behind for you. Perhaps it is time for that tradition to grow with us again. The album I am now creating gathers everything: memories, poems, life lessons, and perhaps even small stories. It is an album that truly grows with you, survives generations, and can become a treasure chest of information. A space where adults can once again entrust something to one another. A way of truly seeing someone, of giving and receiving. Loving and supportive. A place where words do not consume, but connect. It is also a soft yet powerful counter-movement to individualism and the digital age. It invites us to slow down, to write and to reflect. Expressing appreciation without a screen in between. Since we have all become grown women by now, I felt the little album deserved a makeover. This time it will become a special edition. Over the past months I have been exploring what such an album could look like today. What remains the same, and what is allowed to grow with who we are now? The new poetry album will carry the soul of the past, but in a grown-up form. No small school booklet anymore, but a beautifully bound book that can travel with you for many years. Besides the space for words from others, the book will also have its own visual world. Twenty-six pages will be enriched with paintings and poems that I am creating especially for this album. The paintings will be printed with special effects, think glitter, gloss and matte finishes, and different textures, so the book can truly be experienced. A place where memories, art, and words come together. A poetry album has never been just the book itself. It is the people who write in it that bring it to life. The words of friends, the handwriting of women who take a moment to reflect on what someone means to them. Small pieces of life left behind on paper. And that is exactly why, over the past few days, I asked all the women around me whether they still have their childhood poetry album. I asked if they would send me a photo with their album and answer ten small questions. I believe that this weekend more than fifty women are searching through overflowing boxes, dusty attics, and dark basements. The enthusiasm I have received from these women is almost overwhelming. It confirms my feeling that this is something many of us have been waiting for. My goal in collecting these images and answers is not only nostalgia, but also to show how many stories are hidden inside these little books. My hope is that this idea slowly spreads. From woman to woman. From memory to memory. Like an oil stain spreading across water a ripple of stories, friendship, recognition, and connection. To truly bring this special book to life, I will start a crowdfunding campaign next Sunday. In the coming days I will share more about the making process, the images, the poems, and the design of the book. But for now, I am especially curious about your poetry albums. The little books that once ended with the same simple question… Think of me from time to time… So: Do you still have your old album? I would love to receive a nice photo of you with the album, along with your answers to the 10 questions below. With your permission, I would love to share them on my Instagram account: womanwiththekite . Please email your photo and answers to: esther@womanwiththekite.com Let the ripple effect begin! Tell all your sister friends and feel free to share this blog post with someone you think would absolutely love it too. - Breaking Up With Alcohol
Reflections on Numbing, Growth and Personal Freedom Exactly one year ago, I decided to completely break with alcohol. Alcohol and I had an intimate relationship. It had always been there. In my childhood, alcohol was seen as normal. At home, there was always drinking before dinner, never skipping a day. Wine was made at home. There was always a bottle of yeast on the windowsill, and in the attic, large round glass bottles with wine aging. Because it was always present and consumed, it was seen as normal. Alcohol was associated with coziness, in the Dutch language we have a special word for that "gezellig". That’s still the case today: we all know the question, “Join us for a drink? Because that's "gezellig”. Alcohol wasn’t just at our table; it was woven into our entire family culture. For example, I had a grandmother who spoke with a slurred tongue for years. Everyone thought it was the result of a stroke. Until my aunt accidentally took a sip of her drink and discovered there was more brandy than Coke in it. My other grandmother would routinely pour herself a rum and Coke at the end of the afternoon. Once I had outgrown peach juice, she started giving me one too. They were pretty strong, and together we had the greatest fun, she would toss green beans onto my plate from a meter away, and I was allowed to scrape the burnt potatoes out of the pan. Or my birthday, which was no longer celebrated with the family because an uncle, already something of a hollow vessel to begin with, would grow more empty the more he drank, only to then step into the car with his whole family and drive home. It wasn’t ill intent. It was something passed down from generation to generation. Without anyone ever questioning what it was really doing. At 14, I was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, my stomach freed from 1 liter of Vodka. I don’t remember any of it myself, but I’ve joked in the past that I was the first coma-drinker in the Netherlands. It was the start of an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. The only positive thing that night? I never went over my limit again. In my teenage years, it seemed like everyone was drinking. We went out, to happy hours, pre-drinking, after-parties, and pulling all-nighters. We were even able to function reasonably the next day. That changed in my twenties, when, for example, I was sent home from work because I was completely useless, or fell asleep on the train and woke up in some godforsaken place. Back then, it was seen as a funny story. They say good stories aren’t made by drinking milk, and in my world, everyone had good stories. My surroundings were soaked in alcohol. There was no one who didn’t drink. At some point, I also started to see what some people were numbing: a difficult childhood, insecurity, shame, anger, lack of self-love and self-worth, you name it. For many, alcohol is a way to soften life. The real problem lies beneath. When I started noticing these patterns, I asked myself the same question: what am I actually numbing? I drank almost every night to fall asleep. Not to the point of delirium, but just two drinks to switch my mind off. This worked for a long time, until it didn’t. I started reacting more emotionally, my body struggled to recover, and I could fall into a deep emotional pit. The tipping point was near. Throughout my life, I had stopped drinking several times. The first thing I noticed? The loss of friends. It became clear to me that they weren’t friends, but drinking buddies. They reappear in your life when you start drinking again. I began to understand their function: noise. Noise to fill issues, to avoid feeling lonely. That's what makes you collect useless noise around you, filling in voids. What else I noticed: if you come from an alcohol-soaked environment and you also have a strong personality, there’s little support. No check-ins, no encouragement. In fact, when I finally gathered the courage to be vulnerable and shared that I had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, it was brushed off. “It’s not that bad, it’s not so serious. you are making it to big.” This wasn’t just minimizing my relationship with alcohol; it was also minimizing my self-knowledge. It hurts when others dismiss your experience, while other family members did receive support during their alcohol-free phases. Fortunately, I took myself seriously. I flipped the script. I decided to stop. No more self-destruction, but let's move towards self-love. A true gift I gave myself. For me, this feels like adult autonomy: giving yourself recognition. Carrying it completely alone, moving through discomfort, without drama, without crisis. I DID THAT! I can honestly say it didn’t even cost me that much effort. In recent years, my alcohol intake had been minimal; this was the last piece. It’s a new way of living, a new way of enjoying life. No, I don’t like going to bars anymore. Talking sober to drunk people is a challenge I have no desire for. I entertain myself in other ways. The benefits are enormous: a better-functioning liver, a few lost kilos, more focus, a clearer channel, more people around me who also don’t drink, no hangovers, more self-love and appreciation, emotional stability, and stronger personal autonomy. So today, I celebrate quietly by myself, with my ginger lemonade in a “cozy” wine glass, that I reached this milestone. I say to myself: Es, you did it. You can be proud of yourself. You broke the pattern. You go girl! And now, I invite you to honestly take a look at your own susceptibility to addictive behaviors. Try to answer the questions below as sincerely as possible, for yourself, without judgment. Remember that everyday is a new day, every new day can be a beginning, where you can make healthier choices for yourself, you decide! Your future self is already thanking you! Reflection Questions on Alcohol, Numbing, and Habits. 1. Which emotions or thoughts do you numb with alcohol or other habits? 2. Do you drink to forget, to soften, or to help you sleep? 3. How would you feel if that habit were gone tomorrow? 4. Are there moments when you feel alcohol (or something else) limits who you want to be? 5. When you are honest: do you really enjoy alcohol (or something else), or is it more about the ritual and habit? 6. Which patterns in your life are maintained because you numb something? 7. Are there situations where you’ve criticized yourself for what you did to avoid feeling emotions? 8. What would you do differently if you dared to feel what’s underneath? 9. Who do you really share your challenges with, and who don't you share them with? 10. What would your life look like if you took yourself as seriously as I did this year? Enjoying my blog? I DID THAT! You go girl! 2.
- Owning Your Thoughts
How Conscious Awareness Can Transform Your Life When I was 24 years old, I heard the sentence: “You decide for yourself when you want to be happy.” Those words stayed with me all day. That evening, I decided to take a closer look at my thoughts. I made a commitment: for every negative thought, I would consciously replace it with a positive one, whether I believed it or not. And so I did, consistently. During the first week, it was painfully clear how many negative thoughts passed through my mind. No wonder my life hadn’t felt particularly positive; for years, I had been unconsciously digesting negativity and limiting beliefs. But after a few weeks of consciously working on this, something began to shift. I felt lighter, freer, and real opportunities started to appear. Now, 22 years later, this is still a daily practice. I pay attention to my thoughts, observe them, and guide them when needed. Because we are often so unaware. Tens of thousands of mental events occur every day, most automatically and repetitively. Many of these thoughts do not serve our highest good. It’s no wonder we get stuck. The more conscious we are of our thoughts, the more we can shape our lives positively. It’s not about having fewer thoughts, but about not dwelling in every thought. Observing and releasing thoughts creates space and freedom. I use two powerful phrases to neutralize fear and negative thinking immediately: • “Does this thought serve my highest good?” If not, I transform it into one that does. • When fear arises: “Not in my timeline.” I let it go. No doomsday scenarios, no endless replaying. I am in charge of my life and my thoughts. We are not our thoughts; we are channels for their flow. And this awareness creates freedom. Changing your thoughts changes your life. Moving from not believing something is possible to believing it is possible, that is transformation. It’s not a week-long experiment; it’s a lifelong commitment. It requires conscious attention, responsibility, and ownership over yourself. When you start working with your own thoughts, something becomes clear. Everywhere around you and often within yourself, it’s easy to expect the negative. How quickly we see bears on the path, when they are often just teddy bears. Many people keep themselves small, not out of weakness, but out of habit. Beliefs that once offered protection become repetitions within which life continues to unfold. Complaining and looking for causes outside ourselves feels logical; it relieves pressure but shifts responsibility. What often goes unnoticed is that we repeatedly place old events in front of our own feet. A past experience becomes the reference point for what we expect to happen. Not because life repeats itself, but because we keep consulting the past as truth. As long as this inner belief remains, the same outcome keeps showing up. Not as punishment, but as confirmation. Fear can sit so deeply in our system that it, unfortunately, becomes a comfort zone. To step out of it, you truly have to do the work yourself. The door to hell is locked from the inside . Yes, really, you hold the key. No matter how heavy it feels, you have everything within you to change it. Without awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, our electromagnetic field, it’s easy to fall into victimhood. But awareness opens the moment when patterns become visible and can finally be rewritten. Around the age of 24, I also realized that you can’t lay your ideas at everyone’s feet. Many people cannot listen without judgment and give advice from their own limited perspective. I don’t want negative or limiting seeds planted in me. Luckily, I’ve always been stubborn enough to follow my own path and set aside unsolicited advice. What resonates, I take with me. What doesn’t, I leave behind. Because I know what limiting seeds can do, I consciously choose to be someone’s cheerleader. Positive feedback can make someone’s engine run faster. Everyone discovers for themselves what works; no one needs to give it away. My tip: when sharing your ideas, find someone who can listen from a neutral perspective. Does feedback give you energy? Take it in. Does it make you feel worse? Set it aside. Create from your own thruth. Follow your own path. “Thank you for reading my blog post. If these words resonate with you, you’re welcome to support my work with a donation. It helps me keep sharing what flows through me (scroll down). Journal Prompts 1. Which negative thought keeps coming up for you today? How could you transform it into a thought that serves your highest good? 2. Which past event are you still placing in front of your own feet? What happens if you acknowledge it and release it? 3. Where do you feel trapped in a comfort zone due to fear? What first step can you take today to do the work yourself? 4. When have you felt small or dependent on someone else’s judgment? How can you transform that energy into your own strength today? 5. What positive feedback or support could you consciously give yourself or someone else today? 6. If you could remove one thought from your mind today, which would it be and why?
