What Lives On, Written By Those Who Love You.

I am currently in the middle of my crowdfunding and I notice how this project is slowly unfolding through the responses I receive. What began as an idea is increasingly becoming something carried by the stories of others.

Especially after personal conversations, I receive a lot of enthusiasm, because most people are open to the conscious connection that is being created. Not only for themselves, but also with the intention of creating a book that can later be passed on to their children. Because how powerful is it, for example, that I can tell my son that he should always follow his heart and see his intuition as his closest companion. Even when I am no longer here, my guidance remains, and he can always be reminded of it when he opens the book.

In recent times, I spoke with several women who have kept their poetry albums to this day. I asked them to answer ten questions about them. What came back went far beyond simple answers. I received incredibly beautiful anecdotes as well as deeply emotional messages. A lot of emotion was released.

Some shared fragments of their albums with me, others spoke about the words that were once written for them. Small sentences, simple rhymes, names of people who once were close. What is so beautiful about this is that they still carry these books with them. They belong to them. They hold memories that have not been lost.

There were also women who no longer had their album, and who had to say goodbye far too early to their mother or another loved one. They all expressed how deeply they would love to read their handwriting and the written words again.

And this is where the emotional weight of these albums lies, because many of the people who wrote in them are no longer here. What remains are their words. Handwritten, personal, tangible. They are traces of connection, of attention, of a moment when someone took the time to leave something behind. This is what makes such an album more than paper. It becomes something that remains.

For this modern poetry album, which I have titled “What lives on, written by those who love you,” I assembled a panel of fourteen people who read twenty-eight poems of mine. Their task was to select twelve favourites from this collection.

These twelve poems carry five themes: grief, transformation, sovereignty, wildness (feminine energy), and love. Themes that touch what it means to be human, as it is often within our most intense experiences that the deepest wisdom is found. Between these poems are blank pages, intended to be filled in by loved ones.

Initially, I invited only women, as the work is written from a female perspective. However, I became curious about how it would be received by men, and decided to include that perspective as well.

The first feedback I received from a man moved me. He quoted a line from a poem that had touched him. At that moment, I realised that this project does not only speak from one side, but also creates space for connection between the masculine and the feminine. That it is being read and truly received. And of course, men also deserve beautiful words, and their wisdom deserves to be passed on. Writing and creation live within men just as much as within women.

What I also notice is that, at this moment, more men than women have donated to this crowdfunding campaign. Without intentionally directing this, it simply happens. For me, this confirms that the project resonates more broadly than I initially expected.

The essence of this book lies in what we leave behind for the people we love. In words that we consciously record. Not only for later, but especially for now. To put into words what we feel, regardless of age or moment, and regardless of who we address them to. Within family lines, but also within friendships.

It is about connection and responsibility. About choosing to express and record something so that it becomes real and can be shared. Something tangible that continues to exist as part of how we connect with one another.

This book is also a movement. A choice to slow down, to give attention, and to allow words to land. In a time where so much is fleeting and disappears quickly. Because what truly remains of a moment online and what remains when someone takes the time to write something for you by hand?

This book is for people who want to pass on what they feel, what they see in another, what they may not always express. And also for those who will one day hold it in their hands. Who will turn the pages of words written especially for them or their loved ones.

This is the moment where this project can become reality. Not later, but now. By donating, you are not only helping to create this book, you are also helping to ensure that this way of recording and preserving continues to exist and is passed on again. An analogue gift in a digital age.

Every contribution makes it possible to actually hold this book in your hands. To create something that can be passed on, preserved, and carry meaning for the people who receive it.

If you feel this matters, then this is the moment to become part of what is unfolding here. I am not simply asking for a contribution. I am offering the book in return. Choose your reward and support something that creates space again for slowing down, feeling, and real connection.

If you'd like to support the project, you can make a donation through the link and email me at esther@womanwiththekite.com and let me know which reward you've chosen. I'll make sure to register your details.

I would also like to ask everyone to share my project. Spread the word!

With deep gratitude.

What lives on, written by those who love you.

Let's spread the word!

Mijn dank is groot!

Esther
